Level Up Your Smile With Braces

Pitts 21 self-ligating braces, our version of metal braces, at SmileOn Orthodontics have been the cornerstone of orthodontic treatment for years. These new-age appliances use a combination of brackets and wires to methodically move your teeth into their perfect spots, helping Dr. Pandya craft a stunning smile and a harmonious bite for our Cedar Park patients.

The Time-Tested Approach to a Perfect Smile

At SmileOn Orthodontics, we've embraced the latest advancements in orthodontic technology, opting for Pitts 21 self-ligating braces instead of traditional twin metal braces. These state-of-the-art braces enhance the efficiency of the treatment process, providing faster results with less discomfort.

Pitts 21 self-ligating braces eliminate the need for elastic or metal ties, using a specialized clip to help guide your teeth into place. This not only speeds up the adjustment process but also results in fewer appointments and a shorter overall treatment time.

For those looking to add a personal touch, the braces still allow for colorful elastics, making your orthodontic journey both effective and expressive.

Braces Treat Your Teeth and Jaw

Orthodontics is the branch of dentistry that focuses on correcting improperly positioned teeth and jaws.

Crooked teeth and teeth that don’t fit together correctly are harder to keep clean, leaving them at risk of being lost early due to tooth decay and periodontal disease, and cause extra stress on the chewing muscles that can lead to headaches, TMJ syndrome and neck, shoulder and back pain.

Teeth and jaws that aren’t in the right place can also take away from your appearance. The benefits of orthodontic treatment include a healthier mouth, a more pleasing appearance, and teeth that will last a lifetime.

Crowding

This is when there are too many teeth for the dental ridge to accommodate. Crowding can make brushing and flossing difficult, leading to cavities, gum disease, and bone loss.

Spacing

Gaps, or spaces, between the teeth as a result of missing teeth or teeth that do not “fill up” the mouth. The most common complaint from those with excessive space is poor appearance, but the health of the gums can be compromised and bone loss may occur if space persists for long periods of time because food and bacteria have a tendency to get lodged in the spaces.

Deepbite / Overbite

In this case, the upper teeth overlap lower teeth; higher chance of wearing teeth, often clenchers and grinders.

Underbite

Here, the lower teeth sit in front of the upper teeth. This happens when the lower jaw grows at a faster rate than the upper jaw. It is very important to monitor growth in these situations.

Openbite

With an openbite, the upper and lower front teeth do not meet, resulting in space between them. This can be caused by prolonged thumb sucking and then perpetuated by the presence of the tongue resting or thrusting between the teeth.

Crossbite

There are two types of crossbites: front and back. A front crossbite occurs when one or more upper teeth are behind one or more lower teeth.

A front crossbite can be a result of bad habits such as nail biting or pen biting, trauma, or even losing a baby tooth too early. A back crossbite occurs when the upper teeth are on the inside of the lower teeth in the back.

When this occurs, the patient will usually compensate by moving the lower jaw to one side. If this persists, it can permanently change the face and jaws.
