Level Up Your Smile With Braces
SmileOn Orthodontics proudly treats our patients with Pitts21 self-ligating brackets. They have been the cornerstone of Doc Ak’s treatment plans for years. These new-age braces use a combination of brackets and nickel-titanium wires to methodically move your teeth into their ideal spots, helping Doc Ak craft a stunning smile with a harmonious bite!
The Time-Tested Approach to a Perfect Smile
At SmileOn Orthodontics, we've embraced the latest advancements in orthodontic technology, opting to treat our patients with Pitts21 self-ligating braces as opposed to the more common, traditional Twin-style metal braces. These high-tech brackets enhance the efficiency of the treatment process, providing faster results with less discomfort.
These special brackets are able to do this because they eliminate the need for elastic or metal ties, instead using a specialized metal clip that helps guide your teeth into their proper place. This creates less friction for your teeth as they move, speeding up the treatment process with fewer visits and an overall shorter treatment time.
With Pitts21 braces, Doc Ak uses a special bracket placement technique called Smile Arc Protection (or SAP) in his designs. This allows Doc Ak to achieve the most natural, visually pleasing smiles possible. This orthodontic technique is backed by thorough clinical research and propelled by the latest in orthodontic technology, which goes beyond just straightening the teeth. SAP considers individual facial features including your mouth shape and jawline, ensuring a highly customized, natural solution for each patient.

Adjustments

Keep On SmilingOn
The journey to a perfect smile doesn’t end with the removal of your braces. Doc Ak suggests a “nighttime for lifetime” policy when it comes to your retainer wear. You will want to wear your retainers every night while you sleep, ensuring your teeth stay in their new positions, preserving the brilliance of your smile for a lifetime.
Orthodontics Treat Your Teeth and Jaws
Orthodontics is the branch of dentistry that focuses on correcting improperly positioned teeth and jaws.
Teeth that are crooked or don’t fit together properly are harder to keep clean, leaving them at risk of being lost early due to tooth decay and periodontal disease. An improper bite causes extra stress on your chewing (masseter) muscles that can result in headaches, TMJ syndrome, and neck/shoulder/back pain.
Having misaligned teeth and jaws can also affect your aesthetic appearance. The benefits of orthodontic treatment include a gorgeous smile you can be proud of, a healthier mouth, and teeth that will last a lifetime!
Crowding
Crowding occurs when there are too many teeth or not enough room for the dental ridge to accommodate. Crowding can make brushing and flossing difficult, leading to cavities, gum disease, and bone loss.
Spacing
Gaps (spaces) between the teeth may be the result of missing or smaller-than-average teeth. Not only does excessive space affect aesthetics, but the health of your gums and bone may be compromised over time due to food/bacteria getting lodged in those tiny spaces.
Deepbite / Overbite
This occurs when the upper teeth overlap the lower teeth more than they should, resulting in a higher chance of wearing the teeth down. (Oftentimes this leads to clenching & grinding.)
Underbite
With an underbite, the lower teeth sit out in front of the upper teeth. This can happen when the lower jaw grows at a faster rate than the upper jaw. It is integral to monitor growth in these situations.
Openbite
With an openbite, the upper and lower front teeth do not come together while biting on your back teeth, resulting in space between the upper and lower arches. This can be caused by prolonged thumb sucking and then perpetuated by the presence of the tongue resting or thrusting between the teeth.
Crossbite
A front crossbite occurs when one or more upper teeth are behind one or more lower teeth.
There are two types of crossbites: front (anterior) and back (posterior) An anterior crossbite occurs when one or more of your upper teeth sit behind one or more of your lower teeth. This could be the result of a habit such as nail/pen biting, trauma, or even losing a baby tooth too early. A posterior crossbite occurs when the upper teeth in the back of your mouth sit inside the lower teeth. When this occurs, the patient will often compensate by forcing their lower jaw to one side or the other. If this persists, it can permanently change the face and jaws for the worse.
When this occurs, the patient will usually compensate by moving the lower jaw to one side. If this persists, it can permanently change the face and jaws.
