Which Holiday Treats to Eat and Avoid with Braces

If you have a big sweet tooth, the Holidays might be tough if you have braces. Everyone is constantly eating treats, sweets, and candies all season long, and you know you shouldn’t be eating all of them. So what do you do!? First, don’t panic. There are lots of delicious holiday treats that you CAN eat with braces! They should be eaten in moderation, but anything that isn’t too hard to sticky is safe. We recommend:

  • Hot cocoa
  • Marshmallows
  • Soft sugar cookies (decorated with frosting, not sprinkles)
  • Brownies
  • Cupcakes

Holiday Sweets to Avoid

However, you should avoid any candies or desserts that are hard, crunchy, chewy or sticky. Those include:

  • Candy canes
  • Peanut brittle
  • Fudge
  • Anything with nuts or crunchy crusts
  • Popcorn or popcorn balls (especially caramel corn!)
