Welcome to Part Two of our Invisalign FAQ! There is still more to learn about this amazing braces alternative.
CAN THE ALIGNERS GET DAMAGED?
It is possible for the aligners to be damaged without proper care. Always remove your aligners when eating and drinking, especially with hot beverages like coffee. The high temperatures can warp the plastic, and the aligner will not longer fit properly. Smoking while wearing the aligners can also cause damage.
DOES CARING FOR MY TEETH CHANGE WHILE IN INVISALIGN TREATMENT?
Because you can remove the aligners, you can continue to care for your teeth as always. You must also brush and floss after eating and before placing the aligners back in your mouth to reduce your risk of tooth decay. The aligners can easily trap food particles, so always keep a toothbrush, toothpaste, and dental floss with you so you can quickly clean your teeth after eating.
CAN I TAKE THE ALIGNERS OUT FOR A SOCIAL OCCASION?
To properly move the teeth, the aligners need to be worn the prescribed amount of time, which is 22 hours a day. The teeth can only move when the force is properly applied. For this reason, it is not recommended to take the aligners out for a social occasion. Remember, once you do it one time, it is easy to do it more and more.
