Sometimes, you get so caught up in what you can’t eat with braces, that you forget about all the delicious food you can enjoy! Try not to think of it as a negative thing, and dwell on the foods you can’t eat, and think about all the great meals you can make with foods you can!
Dairy — soft cheese, pudding, milk-based drinks
Breads — soft tortillas, pancakes, muffins without nuts
Grains — pasta, soft cooked rice
Meats/poultry — soft cooked chicken, meatballs, lunch meats
Seafood — tuna, salmon, crab cakes, other soft fish
Vegetables — mashed potatoes, steamed spinach, beans, cooked green beans, cooked carrots
Fruits — applesauce, bananas, fruit juice, soft/cut-up apples and pears
Treats — ice cream without nuts, milkshakes, Jell-O, pudding, soft cake
Good meals to eat with braces:
Sandwich with lunch meat on soft bread and your favorite cheese
Macaroni and cheese with cooked broccoli
Mashed potatoes and rotisserie chicken
Chicken noodle soup
Lasagna with extra-soft noodles
And for dessert?
Milkshake made with your favorite ice cream!
Just remember, there are so many tasty foods you can eat while you have braces. And if you’re sad about missing our on your favorite treat, just think about how delicious it will taste once you get your braces off!
