The new year is here! New Years’ resolutions are a great time to reflect on how you want to improve the coming year.
Lots of people make resolutions to get healthier, be more organized, or improve their lives in other ways. But what about your smile? Consider these 3 dental new year’s resolutions
- Floss Every Day
You know you need to floss every day – so why aren’t you doing it yet?! Flossing is needed to remove bacteria between your teeth and gums. The longer the bacteria accumulates, the stronger it gets, which causes more than just bleeding and gum inflammation. This bacteria can cause your gums and bone that hold your teeth in place to break down, and they don’t grow back. So start flossing!
2. Wear your retainer!
If you got your braces off and have since been an infrequent retainer wearer, now is the time to change that. If you don’t wear your retainer as instructed, your teeth may move, ruining all the hard work and money you put in!
3. Cut down on soda and other sugary drinks
As tasty as it is, soda and other sugary drinks are bad for your teeth. Bacteria in your mouth loves sugar, and it creates an acid that weakens your teeth, causing cavities. Keep your mouth healthy and stick to water!
