🍂 Giving Thanks for Great Smiles — Thanksgiving at SmileOn Orthodontics

As the leaves fall and the holidays approach, all of us at SmileOn Orthodontics are reflecting on what we’re most grateful for — and at the top of our list are you, our patients and families. This November, we want to take a moment to express our deep appreciation for the trust you place in us when you choose SmileOn for your smile journeys.

Tips for Having the Best Summer with Braces - SmileOn Orthodontics

Why Thanksgiving Matters to Us

Thanksgiving isn’t just about turkey, pie, and time with loved ones. For us, it’s a celebration of gratitude — a chance to pause, reflect, and say “thank you” for the smiles, stories, and relationships we’ve been able to build over the past year. We love being part of your journey, whether you’re starting braces, switching to clear aligners, or coming in for routine adjustments.

We’re honored when generations of a family walk through our doors — from kids getting their first braces to parents and grandparents freshening up their smiles. Each appointment is more than just orthodontic care. It’s a shared step toward confidence, comfort, and community.

Tips for a Smile-Friendly Thanksgiving Feast

If you — or someone in your family — has braces or clear aligners this holiday, Thanksgiving dinner doesn’t have to derail your progress. Based on our professional experience and recommendations from orthodontic specialists across Texas, here are some tips to enjoy the holiday while protecting your teeth and appliances:

  • Choose softer foods when possible. Turkey (cut into manageable pieces), mashed potatoes, stuffing, cooked veggies, casseroles, and soft bread are generally safe and easier on braces or aligners.

  • Be cautious with hard, crunchy or sticky dishes. Items like nuts, raw vegetables, crusty bread, caramel, or hard candy can damage brackets or wires — or get stuck between teeth.

  • Use a travel-ready cleaning kit. If you’re on the go between holiday visits, have a small toothbrush, toothpaste, floss (or floss picks), and — for aligner wearers — your aligner case. Even a quick rinse helps if brushing isn’t possible right away.

  • After the feast: clean, floss, and re-align. Especially for aligner users — make sure you brush and floss before putting your aligners back in. Food or sugar trapped against teeth can slow progress or cause irritation.

Our goal is to help you enjoy every bite — and every smile — this holiday season.
